The English Soap Company are delighted to announce the launch of our 100% recycled tote bag. Made from recycled cotton and plastic bottles, this reusable tote bag is completely eco-friendly and is emblazoned with an original illustration.

The recycled tote bag itself is sourced from a wonderful company, Continental Clothing, as part of their Salvage® range. Continental Clothing is the largest organic textile licensee of the Soil Association, and has been licensed under the Global Organic Standard (GOTS) since 2007. They have also been a member of Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) since 2006.

To make the 100% recycled tote bag, Continental Clothing salvage the cuttings from organic cotton textile production, shred them and turn back into soft cotton fibres. They then add fibres made from locally recycled plastic bottles to obtain the cotton and polyester blend. They spin the blended fibres into fine yarn to make fabrics. Finally, we finish the production with care to create a high-quality product.

Salvage labelled products are certified under the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) and the Organic Content Standard (OCS) by the Control Union Certifications. Licence number CU828402. You can find out more about Salvage fashion here.

The unique illustration was created in house at the English Soap Company, by our senior graphic designer Michelle Ivy. The design celebrates our company’s passion and focus for creating local, sustainable and eco-friendly products.

Michelle started working for The English Soap Company in 2019, and has brought a fresh and wonderfully creative eye to all our new The English Soap Company packaging designs. Her designs can be seen throughout The English Soap Company website and on new product packaging, and the gorgeous and quirky illustrations bring life to The English Soap Company products.
