What is Earth Day?

Like thousands of other eco-conscious companies around the world, we are celebrating our beautiful blue planet on 22nd April. Our goal is to spread awareness of the impactful choices we can all make toward creating a more sustainable world. To achieve a brighter and healthier planet, we all have a role to play in cutting down our use of plastic and reducing our carbon footprints.

Earth Day 2024 is not just a day, it’s an eco-friendly movement.

At the heart of The English Soap Company lies a profound commitment to our planet, our people, and our community. We can all embrace, learn from, and actively implement dedication to sustainability in our daily lives. Having earned sustainability awards, we actively uphold our commitment by making thoughtful choices to treat the environment with respect and kindness. We are eager to share these choices with you, hoping to inspire and encourage you to join us in making a positive difference.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

One of our most adored Collections is our partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. With the idea of bringing the history of their botanical artworks to life and connecting with the fragrance of the plants at Kew also came an opportunity to give back to the planet. Money raised from the Kew Toiletries Collection goes directly to support Kew’s mission to stop biodiversity loss and secure a healthy planet for us all.

Kew works with partners in over 110 countries around the world to protect and conserve plants and fungi. It made total sense for us to entwine our practices with them to bring you luxury products that also serve a purpose beyond the bathroom. To learn more about the important work at Kew, click here.

Our Eco-Friendly Accessories

Over the past couple of years, we have expanded our sustainable products collection with the launch of our Recycled Tote Bag and Zero Waste Soap Saver Pouch. Made from recycled cotton and plastic bottles, our reusable tote bag offers you a guilt-free carry option for your belongings.

Its smaller eco-friendly neighbour is our extremely popular exfoliating soap saver pouch. This bath time companion brings your soap from basin to shower, reduces your bathroom plastic waste, and gets the most out of every last slither of your beloved soap bar. These accessories are an easy swap or friendly addition that will benefit your eco-endeavours.

Soap Bars wrapped with Recyclable Paper

It’s where it all began. The humble soap bar was the spark that ignited the beginnings of The English Soap Company and the idea that gave us our name. Our luxury, vegan-friendly soap bars are nestled inside fully recyclable paper wraps, helping to reduce plastic pollution and reduce bathroom waste.

Our paper wraps are printed locally, which helps support neighbouring businesses and also reduces our carbon footprint. Each paper wrap is printed with vegetable based ink on environmentally accredited FSC certified stocks. Chemical-free and biodegradable, our soaps are the number one nod to eco-friendly bathing.

What we do as a Sustainable Company

Our environmental initiatives expand beyond our products. Here on the farm, we strive to make sustainable choices through our daily practices as a business and as people. Here’s a little summary of some of the things we do:

  • Reuse boxes multiple times. Then when at the end of their life, we shred them to use as packing stuffing. We also shred old wraps for packing too!
  • Reuse our empty product packaging. We find multiple purposes for whatever we can. From sanitiser spray to indoor plant mister, soap wrap to fragranced bookmarks or candle jars to sophisticated drinking glasses, the creativity is endless.
  • We carpool. Working on a rural farm means we club together to get here and help reduce pollution.
  • We recycle. Everything from mass material to our lunch containers, it’s all considered.
  • We limit our waste. Goodbye blue roll, hello hand dryers.

Recyclable Packaging across our Collections

It’s not just our paper-wrapped soap bars that steal the sustainability show. All our gift-boxed soaps use fully recyclable packaging. We opt for recyclable aluminium hand cream tubes within multiple collections. Our hand and body washes use 100% recycled and recyclable PCR plastic. PCR (post-consumer resin) reduces energy consumption and emissions when being produced, and is essentially plastic that has been recycled and repurposed from previous plastic waste.
